By Princess Anukwu Anambra NUJ Gets New  Exco The South East Editor of Authority Newspaper, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu (Phd) on Friday emerged the chairman of Anambra State council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). Odogwu polled 110 votes to defeat hard fighting Abuchi Onwumelu of Fides Newspaper who polled 103. Ngozie Obineli of Anambra Broadcasting Service got143 vote to defeat her opponent Beatrice  Onuchukwu who got 73 votes. Candidates for other positions were returned unopposed. The chairman of the electoral committee, Sir Victor Agusiogbo while announcing the winners commended the members of NUJ for their peaceful conduct before, during and after the election. By Isaac Ojo Mysterious fire burns down Nnewi market Mystery fire on New Year Day burnt down Obi Isiedo foodstuff market, Okpuno-Egbu, Umudim, Nnewi, Anambra State where about 400 makeshift shops were consumed in the night. Sources claimed that the fire started around 10:00 pm at one shop and later escalated to several others where the owners left their goods and some cash with which to continue business after the festivities.  Our source said that water tankers mobilized to the scene to help fight the inferno could not help.
