Anambra LGA Polls: NULGE calls for enabling environment From Seun Miracle The Anambra State President Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Nicholas Aromeh has tasked the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission(ANSIEC) to offer an enabling environment for the polls. Civil societies calls for establishment of citizens help office desk in Anambra From Ifeoma Ejiofor Combined group of civil societies in Nnewi South LGA of Anambra State, have called for the establishment of Office of the Citizens (OOTC) help desk in the twenty one LGAs in the state. The groups made their position known during an interactive session hosted by Justice, Development Peace Caritas (JDPC) Nnewi Catholic Diocese in partnership with a development partner, Enough is Enough Nigeria. They insisted that the creation of the help desk would promote good governance, transparency and accountability adding that it would give them a voice for timely reporting of challenges and needs in their localities. Obi of Ezindu in Obiofia, Nnewichi-Nnewi in Nnewi North LGA, Obi Ejike Ndubuizu made the appeal during his new new yam festival. He noted that there is need for the youths and other energetic persons in the country to go back to the farm as it was in the days of old. "When we were growing up, no matter what vocation a person chooses, he must still add agriculture to it, even people who have large compounds normally use part of such expansive places to farm. AIERC: JDPC Nnewi Hosts Colloquium Of Religious, Faith Leaders In Anambra From Ifeoma Ejiofor The Justice, Development and Peace Caritas (JDPC) of Nnewi Catholic Diocese on Wednesday played host to a colloquium of faith and religious leaders in Anambra State. The colloquium of religious and faith leaders was convoked on the 2024 African Inclusive Economic Recovery Campaign (AIERC) In his welcome address, the Director of JDPC Nnewi Diocese, Rev. Fr. Benedict Chima Okolo on behalf of Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye, the Bishop of the Diocese revealed that JDPC was created as a pontifical Commission on January 6th, 1967. Excitement As Man Wins N.5m In  Yam Competition In Obeledu From Seun Miracle The sleepy town of Obeledu in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State was thrown into excitement mode on Saturday as Mr Kenneth Ifeakandu from Okofia village won five hundred thousand Naira for harvesting 95kg yam in the community. Yam competition was part of the new yam festival for the 2024 edition of Obeledu's new yam festival. Ifeakandu who defeated fifteen others said that the half a million Naira prize he won for producing the most heavy yam would be invested in his farm for greater yield next year. "The prize money is a morale booster to invest more into agriculture, I will expand my scope and return here next year by the grace of God with super huge harvests to show my gratitude to God," he said.
