Kanu's Conviction: Foundation decries impact, backs call for 'political solution' Chinedum Treasure  Ikenga Abiama Dynasty Foundation of Igboland, a foremost institution dedicated to the preservation of Igbo heritage, justice and welfare of Ndigbo has expressed concern over dire consequences of the life jail sentence handed down to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.  Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) was convicted on seven counts of terrorism-related charges and sentenced to life imprisonment by Justice James Omotosho of Federal High Court, Abuja on Thursday. Reacting to the widespread outrage that trailed the judgment, the foundation, in a statement signed by the foundation's chairperson, Amb. JDPC Nnewi holds value reorientation program for secondary school students  From Ifeoma Ejiofor  Justice Development and Peace Caritas(JDPC) of Nnewi Catholic Diocese in collaboration with the JDPC Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, has carried out a reorientation intervention program for secondary school students. The intervention was implemented in three selected schools under JDPC Nnewi jurisdiction. The schools that benefitted from the reorientation program included; St. Augustine Secondary School, Mbosi, Queen of Angels Secondary School, Nnewichi, Nnewi, St. Patrick’s International Secondary School, Ichi. The programme was developed in response to the growing concerns about moral decline, indiscipline, peer pressure, and negative behavioral patterns among school-aged children.  The program was necessitated by rising cases of drug abuse, cultism, violence, disrespect to authority, and general ethical decay among students. JDPC intensifies accountability, leadership, governance training for LGAs  From Ifeoma Ejiofor  Anambra Local Government Accountability Fellowship (ALGAF) an initiative of JDPC Nnewi Catholic Diocese has intensified her leadership and governance training workshop. The training workshop focused on taking the campaign to the Executive Chairmen of the six LGAs in Anambra State and their stakeholders. In his welcome remarks, the Director, JDPC Nnewi Catholic Diocese, Rev Fr. Benedict Chima Okolo emphasized the need for participants to concentrate on goals and objectives of the project. Land dispute: Police arrest 3 over violation of Boundary C'ttee order in Anambra community  Chinedum Treasure  At least three persons were allegedly arrested over alleged violation of the order of the Anambra State Boundary Committee on intruding on disputed land at Igbu Awkuzu village, Oyi local Government area of the state. The committee had warned that all parties involved in the disputed land should steer clear of the Nkpan land pending the settlement of the crisis by the Boundary Committee. In a letter dated August 12, 2025, signed by the Boundary Committee Secretary, Olisa Eloka Mba, copied to Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, and Director of Department of Security Service, DSS sent to chairmen of villages concerned, the committee had warned those concerned to abide by the order or be sanctioned. She also commended other supporters who encouraged her before, during, and after the election. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Governor Chukwuma Soludo winner of the election having polled 422,664 votes to defeat candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, who scored 99,445.
