Sen. Smart Adeyemi Calls For Amputation Of Corrupt Officials

The senator representing Kogi West in the red chamber of the National Assembly, Sen Smart Adeyemi has called for the amputation of corrupt government officials in Nigeria.

Sen Adeyemi who was obviously referring to the fraud discovered in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NNDC) said that the level of corruption in the country has become embarrassing.

The law maker said it was really unfortunate that billions of Naira  went down the drains through the Niger Delta people who are charged with the responsibility of managing NNDC while some of their people are daily confronted with grave poverty issues.

He said emphatically that the level of corruption in Nigeria has made it imperative for a drastic measure to be introduced so as to stem the tide of the ugly development.

"In Nigeria, we all claim to be Christians and Moslems, in the two religions, Mosaic and Shari'a law are in place, so it will be in order if corrupt government officials are amputated as stipulated in the two laws so as to serve as deterrent to others.

"Rather than sending corrupt officials to Correctional Centers, the government should also establish big farms across the country where corrupt officials would be forced to work. We can no longer fold our hands and allow this evil wind of corruption to continue unabated in Nigeria." He explained.

Sen. Adeyemi who was a former National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) however charged President Buhari to do something urgently about the ugly and embarrassing development.
