Police Arrest 4 Suspected Cultists In Anambra
Four suspected cultists have been arrested by operatives of the Anambra State command of Nigeria Police Force.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Haruna Mohammed (SP) made this known in a press statement.
Mohammed said that in order to stem the tide of cultism and other nefarious activities in the state especially during the yulitide period, the Command Anti-Cult Unit had last week raided various hideouts and blackspots following intelligence report and arrested three suspects in an operation.
The suspected cultists are twenty two year old Nwabuwanne Maduka, twenty one year old Anayo Ikechukwu and thirty seven year old
Gozie Okoye.
The PPRO said that the suspects were arrested at Amawa village Ogbunike in Oyi Local Government Area of the state and that they voluntarily confessed to be members of the Black Axe and Vikings Secret Cults Confraternity.
Exhibit allegedly recovered in their possessions includes One pump action gun.
Similarly, theCommand Anti-cult unit equally arrested twenty six year old Chukwuweike Ndupu who is a native of Atani, Ogbauru Local Government Area but residing at Oye Olisa, Ogbunike in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The suspect is said to be on the Police wanted list in cult related cases.
Haruna said he has also voluntarily confessed to be a member of Vikings Confraternity.
He said that the exhibits recovered in his possesion includes one locally made single barrel pistol and one live cartridge.
All cases are under investigation after which suspects would be brought to book.
Meanwhile, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police John B.Abang(CP) while reassuring Anambra people and residents of maximum security during and after the festive season urged the law abiding persons in the society to report any suspicious persons or objects to the nearest Police Station or call police emergency number 07039194332 for prompt response.
