Ukpor Community Holds Special Awards and Inuaguration Ceremony

The sleepy Ukpor community in Nnewi South local government area of Anambra State became a behives of activities as the town held her special awards and inuaguration ceremony.

The occasion which was chaired by a former member of Anambra State House of Assembly, Barr. Ikenna Amechi had the former Minister of Education/Solid Minerals, Dr Mrs Obiageli Ezekwesili as special guest of honor.

In her speech at the occasion, Dr Ezekwesili expressed worry that that are no factors of growth and development in the community.

She pointed out that human beings should be adding value to the society before being called human capital and that education plays a pivotal role in the the transformation of human beings to human capital.

Dr Ezekwesili said that education gives a child a competitive edge in life and that the priority of Ukpor community should ensure that no child is left behind in educational development since education of child is not just benefical to the child but the entire society.

The former President General of Ukpor Improvement Union (UIU) Mr Emmanuel C.Nwachukwu at the twin ceremony presented his score card to the admiration of representatives of the various communities in the town who were carefully selected in line with government's directive on prevention of the spread of covid-19 pandemic.

The newly elected PG of UIU, Chief Izuchukwu IG Nwawulu in his inaugural speech promised to build on the achievements of his predecessor.

He also solicited for the support and cooperation of all sons and daughters of the town even as he promised to carry everyone along in the day to day administration of Ukpor.

Fourteen eminent personalities who got special recognition and awards during the occasion were Arc. Amos Igwegbe(FNIA), Dr Mrs Josephine Okechukwu, Dr Alex Ochem, Chief Tony Ezeani, Walter Okafor, Mr Francis Chukwudebelu(KSM), Moses Okezie, Chief Mike Agbasi, Chinedu Anayachor, Victor Nwokeji, Hon Lawrence Onuchukwu, Emeka Ibekwe, Chuka Okonkwo and Odili Ujubuonu(rpa)
