PDP Holds South East Stakeholders Meeting In Awka

The South East Zone of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday held a stakeholders' meeting.

The meeting was held at Marble Arch Hotel, Awka, Anambra State.

In his welcome address, the Anambra State chairman of the party, Hon Ndubuisi Nwobu said that PDP is a united family in  the state.

Hon Nwobu noted that the Anambra State chapter of PDP has been supportive of the National Working Commitee and the South East zonal leadership of the party.

He reassured that the leadership of the PDP in Anambra State with the support of the NWC and South East zonal leadership would conduct a free, fair and credible party primary to produce the flag bearer of PDP in the next Anambra State governorship election.

Hon Nwobu appealed to governorship aspirants in PDP to have confidence in the party leadership as none of them would be wronged.

The PDP strong man said that he expects every other aspirants to line up behind the eventual winner in the spirit of sportsmanship even as he charged any party faithful having litigations to withdraw such from the court for political settlement of such issues.

Hon Nwobu however pointed out that the PDP in Anambra State is faced with paucity of funds which according to him is hindering the activities of the party.

In his own speech, the National Vice Chairman of PDP, South East Zone, Hon Ali Odefa said emphatically that PDP is Anambra State and Anambra State is PDP.

He commeneded the PDP governorship aspirants in Anambra State for their maturity.

He appealed to governorship aspirants in other states of the federation to learn from Anambra State.

Hon Odefa also appealed to all cases initiated by party faithful be withdrawn with immediate effect.

The National Vice Chairman of PDP advised the governorship aspirants to go and popularize the party at the grassroot noting that all hands must be on the deck to ensure that PDP takes over the governance of Anambra State.

The former governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi who was also the Vice Presidential candidate of PDP in the last general elections called on the aspirants to go to grassroot and mobilize for the party towards the next governorship election.

The former governor threw the participants into a wild excitement as he announced his commitment to personally financially empower the leadership of PDP in the state, local government areas and at the ward level.

The Awka stakeholders meeting was attended by Sen. Ben Ndiobi, Sen Joy Emordi, Prof ABC Nwosu, members of National and State Assemblies, governorship aspirants and other eminent personalities.
