Tension In Anambra Community As Man 65 Kills Wife, Son, Commits Suicide

The sleepy town of Amanuke in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State has been thrown into a pensive mood as a man killed his wife and son and committed suicide after.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Anambra State command, Haruna Mohammed (CSP) revealed this in a press statement issued on Thursday.

The PPRO said that police operatives got a report from the vigilante chairman of Amunike community at about 3:am, that a sixty five year old hunter Uchechukwu Nweke of same address allegedly shot his fifty five year old wife Patricia Nweke with a single barrel gun and also burnt his house along with his twenty nine year old son Obinna Nweke in a circumstances yet to be ascertained.

The suspect according to the report equally shot himself using the same gun.

The PPRO said that police detectives attached to Achalla police  station visited the scene and rushed victims to Uche hospital Isuanocha for medical attention where all the three victims were certified dead by a medical doctor on arrival.

He said that corpses of the victims were deposited at the hospital's morgue for autopsy and that nvestigation is ongoing to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.

Meanwhile, our reporter who visited the community said that there is tension in Amanuke as people were seen discussing the latest development in hushed voice for fear of being picked up by security operatives.
