Nnewichi Community Election: Youth Group Tackles Elder Egbuna

The Nnewichi Integrity Group (NIG) says the claim by a contender for the Nnewichi President General (PG), Elder Soge Egbuna that the Obis, members of the community's Board of Trustees (BoT) and stakeholders actually beckoned on him to run for the position of President General (PG) of Nnewichi in press chat cannot be farther from the truth.

The spokesperson for the youth group, Mr Alex Elochukwu said that the the Obis (Royal Father's) of Nnewichi, BoT members and the stakeholders cannot descend to the abysmal level of asking the PG contestant who is from Umuogbo village to run for a position not due to his village based on the rotational arrangements in Obiofia Nnewichi constitution and Nnewi in general.

"Our royal fathers, the Obis, BoT members and the stakeholders cannot in all honesty attempt to destroy the age-long zoning arrangements put in place by our forebears. We wish to state in clear terms that dragging the Obis, BoT members and others into the Nnewichi community election is an attempt to paint them black to achieve his selfish interest.

"We therefore demand an unreserved apology from the Elder because our Obis (Royal Fathers) BoT members and the stakeholders are trust worthy persons and not law breakers.

"Elder Soge Egbuna in his press interview said that he was not interested in contesting for the position of PG Nnewichi until he was beckoned by the Obis, BoT members and the stakeholders to run in the election, we wish to state in clear terms that the confession has technically disqualified him from the race.

"The youths of Nnewichi are not favourably disposed to having a person who is initially not interested in the position until he was dragged into the race as our President General (PG). The press statement of the contender from Umuogbo exhibits pride and arrogance. We want a person who willingly come out to serve Nnewichi as our PG." Elochukwu concluded.
