Abia guber: Group rallies support for Mascot Uzor Kalu
*Initiates move for OUK to emerge as Senate Prresident

Barely one week to the governorship election in Abia State, a political pressure group known as Orji Uzor Kalu Grassroots Movement has thrown its weight behind the candiate of Allied People's Movement (APM) for the Abia guber Mr Mascot Uzor Kalu vowing to mobilise votes from all the Senatorial zones in the State for the APM candidate. 

The group who declared their total support for the APM candidate during their general meeting at their Abia State branch office located at Lopanta in Umunneochi Local government area of the State stated that their support for Kalu is based on his youthfulness and his conversant experience in governance of Abia State having served as Chief of Staff in the State. 

The group also listed zoning as one other reason for lending their weight behind the APM candidate because  according to them, going by zoning interest, it is currently the turn of Abia North Senatorial District which is the Senatorial zone where Kalu comes from to produce the next governor of Abia State. 

Converner and National leader of the group Alhaji Murtala Mohammed alias ten ten who was accompanied to Lopanta by national executive members of the group said that the group will unleash their footsoldiers across the nooks and crannies of the State to mobilise votes for the APM candidate.

Alhaji ten ten explained that "Our choice is not because Mascot is related to our principal but because he is a home boy who has been involved in governance and as such he doesn't just know the areas where it is itching Abia State but also how to address them. More so, we want to let the good people of Abia State know that it is good to follow zoning arrangement by chosing the next governor from Abia North" 

He added "Zoning has come to stay particularly in the Southeast zone where you have zoning entrenched in big States like Anambra and Enugu, so what we are saying is that Abia State have to emulate Anambra and Enugu to entrench zoning by chosing the next governor of Abia State from North and by so doing give their votes to Mascot Uzor Kalu" 

In the same vein the group has initiated move to rally support from relevant stakeholders including political leaders, traditional  rulers, religious leaders and most particularly Senators elect across Nigeria for their principal and former Governor of Abia State Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to merge as the next Senate Prresident when the 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will be inaugurated in June this year. 

Senator Kalu who is the chief whip of the Senate is representing Abia North Senatorial District in the Red Chambers of the National Assembly was re-elected for a second term in the Senate under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC) by the good people of Anambra North in the just concluded National Assembly election held nationwide. 

According to Alhaji ten ten, the group has put machinery in motion to consult with relevant stakeholders across the country with a view to market and sell the candidacy of Chief Whip of the Senate as the best choice to take over the leadership of the highest Legislative Chamber in Nigeria by emerging the President of the 10th Senate come June this year.
