Archbishop Uka Uka Osim of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, along with his wife, son, and four other clergymen have allegedly fell victim to a brazen kidnapping incident in Anambra State.
The abduction was said to have occurred on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, as the group was en route to Awka for evangelical duties.
Among those kidnapped alongside Archbishop Osim were his wife, Anne Osim, his son, Roland Uka Osim, and three additional clergymen, Azuka Ochu, Moses Okafor, and Anderson Akwazie, all associated with the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star.
The news was confirmed by Bishop Denis Onuoha, the administrator of the spiritual organization in Abia State.
"Despite the passage of four days since their abduction, no communication has been received from the perpetrators, leaving loved ones and followers deeply concerned," he said.
Meanwhile, Anambra State Police Command in a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Ikechukwu Ikenga (SP) said that there is no record of such incident in the state.
Ikenga said that inquiries made on the above news from respective Area Commands, Police Divisional Headquarters, and otherwise returned negative.
"The command has been relatively calm as police and other security agencies are strategically positioned in many areas of the state, while some operatives are on crime prevention patrol aimed to address any untoward situations.
"Given the above, the command calls on members of the public to assist us with information regarding the above-mentioned incident if such happened, this will enable us to embark on the investigation, please," he said.
