You Are Irresponsible, Anambra Based Prophet Tells National Assembly, NLC

The Spiritual Head of Soul Revival Outreach, Nnewi, Anambra State, Prophet Ikechukwu Uzukwu on Sunday said that the National Assembly and the current leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress are irresponssible.

Prophet Uzukwu said that it was amazing how the National Assembly quickly passed the bill to revert to the old National Anthem into law as if that would put food on the table of the poor, hungry and angry masses.

"Will reverting to the national anthem composed by colonial masters bring down high cost of living, bring down the pump price of petroleum or enhance the living standard of Nigerians which is about the worst in Africa today.

"If they are eager to take Nigeria and Nigerians backward, why don't they return the nation to parliamentary system of government, the old reasonable school fees, and the old pump price of petroleum products. Maybe they will soon ask us to go back to the old pound Sterling.

"It's worrisome that Nigeria is the only country in Africa where the national anthem composed by the colonial masters is still being used. I have said it times without number that the National Assembly has helped to put the nation's vehicle on reverse gear, honestly, if drastic steps are not taken to address the slide, Nigeria would end up in the ditch," he said.

Prophet Uzukwu expressed worry that the National Assembly refused to pass any bill to checkmate the daylight looting going on in the country into law, ignore the starving masses and devaluation of Naira by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

"The forward looking nations of the world are moving away from fossil fuels and talking about renewable energy, solar powered cars, yet National Assembly members cannot sit and make the Executive arm of government look into that direction.

"The truth is that National Assembly is the major contributory factor in making Nigeria to become a failed state. The best that will happen to Nigeria is to get hectars of land for the lawmakers to start farming so that they can be useful to the nation for once," he said.

The Anambra based prophet also took a swipe at the Nigeria Labour Congress when he accused the leadership of being selfish, and allowing themselves to be used as political tools and friends of persons in power.

"The NLC is talking about salary increment without minding the percentage of the population who are employed by the government, many people are petty traders, transporters, small scale industrialists, unfortunately, NLC is not talking for the teeming population in the unofficial sectors.

"At the moment, no refinery is working in Nigeria, the nation is in a blackout due to non electricity supply, I expect NLC should give ultimatum to the government to address the fundamental issues that will make the country work and not be crying for salary increment like beggers. 

"NLC should be agitating for structural reengineering of Nigeria, what if the salary increment is granted and cannot buy anything? That is why it is better to fight for basic issues that will make Nigeria work. NLC should fight for justice by fighting for the masses.

"The people working in the federal and state owned establishments are less than 20 percent of the populace, politicians are less than 5 percent, 5 percent are those in government who eat and 'belle full', so what happens to the remaining 70 percent of the population who are dying of hunger and starvation," he quipped.

Prophet Uzukwu declared emphatically that if things continue the way it is at the moment, the political class and their chronnies should better be prepared for the wrath of the masses.
