Killer of policewoman arrested in Anambra
Police Operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad/Anti-Kidnapping unit acting on credible information have arrested thirty five year old Ewulu Chikwo who was one of people who allegedly murdered a police woman in Ukpor in Nnewi South LGA of Anambra State.
The Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO) for Anambra State command, Tochukwu Ikenga (SP) revealed this in a press statement.
He said that the operatives on 25th April 2025 busted a criminal Camp at Ukpor where the suspect was arrested.
Ikenga said, "The arrested suspect, Ewulu Chikwo ‘m’ aged 35 years from Osumoghu Isieke Village, Ihiala LGA and his gang members were allegedly planning to enforce illegal Sit-At-Home in the area the following Monday.
"During the interrogation of the suspect, he confessed to being a member of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and also among the armed criminals that attacked the Ukpor Divisional Police Headquarters in the year 2022 where a policewoman, Inspector Stella Maris was gruesomely murdered.
"Given the above, the Joint Security Force has intensified patrols in the area. even as the State Police Command has equally assured of swift action on any security information, especially as it affects the arrest of other gang members in the area."
Meanwhile, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu (CP) has intensified his interactions with stakeholders comprising different Chairmen of the Estates, Private Security Operatives and other respected residents.
The CP said he is prioritizing community safety and collaboration with stakeholders to achieve lasting peace especially the Police-led Operation Udo Ga Chi - Zero Kidnapping which means: "Peace must Reign," through increased security presence to deter crimes and reassure the public.
