Police operatives in Anambra State command have rescued a kidnapped victim.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the command, Tochukwu Ikenga (SP) revealed this in a press statement.

He said,"The Anambra State Police Command today 23rd April 2025 confirmed the rescue and safe return of a kidnapped victim at Umuege Village, Amawbia, Awka and has debriefed the victim for necessary action. 

"This is following a hot chase and strategic positioning of Police Operatives attached to the Central Police Station Awka, on the receipt of information about the abduction of the victim by 10.45 pm yesterday 22nd April 2025.

"This made the criminals operating in an unmarked Sienna vehicle to abandon the victim in Umunya along Enugu/Onitsha Expressway and fled the scene."

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu (CP) has directed a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
