The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has advised boys of the state to embrace the vitues of hard work, common sense, fear of God and integrity in order to making their future great.
The Governor, handed down the advice today at a function to mark the 2025 International Day of the Boy Child organized by the Anambra State Civic and Social Reformation office,( ANCISRO), Government House Awka in collaboration with the E-Keep As Interprise.
The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Information and culture,Dr Law Me for,who doubled as the Chairman of the occasion, described the theme of the event",Boys Today,Great Men Tomorrow",as very apt.
The Governor,who remarked that a boy today can be a great man tomorrow, challenged Anambra State boys to work out their salvation today, reminding them that they should not think that their future will be bed of roses without working for it.
He called the boys to build and plan for their future now they are full of energy,because it is the preparation they make today will shape their happiness tomorrow.
While telling the boys that they will not make any head way in life without the virtues of common sense,hard work,fear of God and integrity,the Governor, equally advised the boys to shun all forms of cut cornnor as it does not pay in the end.
"Your tomorrow is actually what you make,we love you, enhance,the free education,we offered you from nursery to senior secondary school level in the state.Your failure has started already should you join the Yahoo boys for quick money",says the Governor.
He told the boys to work towards paying back to the state by studying hard to sustain the first positions of which the state is known for both at the national and international examinations in the country.
In a keynote address,Dr.Akachukwu Maduakolam,stated that, it takes a lot of knowledge,basic skills to traing and shape the future of the Nigerian boys due what he described as socital pressure in the country.
Dr.Maduakolam,who observed that men are more likely be independent and involve in violent crimes in the society than the female folk, maintained that it is no more acceptable for a man to chase his wife way from his house in Anambra State because of the law put in place by the Anambra State Government against the unlawful act meted out to the women over the years.
Earlier,in his address of welcome,the Managing Director, Anambra State Civic and Social Reformation office(ANCISRO),Sir Chuka Nnabuife,said that the event was put in place by his office with a view to educating the Anambra boys on what it takes to be a good leader and a responsible men in the society.
Sir. Nnabuife,who recalled that the event holds on 16th May every year,called on Nigerian parents to grooming their male child on the rightful path to grow and when they grow,they will not depart from it.
In an interview soon after the event,the President-General, Anambra State Association of Town Union, (ASATU),Comrade Ken Okoli,reminded the boys that Obi will not continue to be a boy, that he will one day becomes a man,pointing out that there was a time he was a boy,but today he is a man.
The President - General,advised the boys to embrace the values capable of making them grow to adulthood seamlessly,adding that it takes a family, education and community institutions to collectively raise a child whether a male or a female child in the society.
The event,which has His Grace,Bishop Dr.E.C Obiorah as father of the day, Bishop Moses Ezedebego,Chairman Anambra State Chapter, Pentecost Followship of Nigeria as the Chief Guest of Honour,was massively attended by school boys drawn from different secondary schools in the state.
