Nov 8 Election: Soludo Deserves More Than Votes Of Ndi-Anambra... Commissioner For Power
Awka:Obiorah Anthony Ugwonwa
The Anambra State Commissioner for Power and Water Resources,Engr.Julius Chukwuemeka, says Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo's second term bid, deserved more than Ndi- Anambra's votes during the proposed November eight governorship election in the state because of his unprecedented achievements in various sectors of the state economy within three years and some months in office.
The Commissioner, made the remark yesterday in his office in Awka, while playing hosting to the former People's Democratic Party, (PDP) Candidate, during the 2023 general elections in state for the Federal House of Representatives Abuja, in Anambra East and West federal constituency,Hon.Maxwell Iwunor, who paid him a courtesy visit as part of activities marking his recent official decamp from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state.
The Commissioner, who attributed the massive defecation from other political parties in the state to APGA to a clear indication that the present government in Anambra State under Governor Soludo is doing very well, opined that this was the first time the state is having a Governor who came in very prepared.
The power and Water Resources boss in the state, who maintained that Governor Soludo came in with manifestos and implementing the manifestos to the last letter, added that the Governor also chaired the vision 2070 committee, where they drafted a fifty year plan for the state.
"If you see what he is doing today across the state, those things are coming from there.Just yesterday at the state executive meeting,he was ticking off the promises made, the things achieved and from the look of things , he had so far surpassed his promises to Ndi-Anambra in several sectors.
"So,any well meaningful Anambrarians, who are not selfish, who has the interest of Anambra State at heart will certainly want to work with the government of the day,and support Governor Soludo, because he had really done a lot for the State,"the Commissioner, said.
He observed that within three years in office that the results were numerous, adding that it is on record as he speaks now, that Governor Soludo had created what he described as belt way in Anambra State, through his roads construction in the state.
"What that means is that you can now connect the four major cities of the state within minutes. And he is not just doing that,he is also connecting the agriarian communities in the state.Of course, what the former candidate of PDP for the House of Representatives, who just joined us,what he said, was a clear indication that the Governor had performed beyond every reasonable doubt",the Commissioner, hinted.
According to him, Enugu-Otu Aguleri Community, has never had it like this before, even when Aguleri had the Governor, confirming that he don't think that they saw what they are seeing today, and explained that Mr. Governor is not just doing this to the good people of Enugu-Otu Aguleri alone, but across the state.
"He had clearly demonstrated his political philosophy of One State-One People Agenda:Living No One behind ,which is the slogan of our great party,(APGA)",Onyeaghana-Nwanne ya", So,he had clearly shown,na oda agha umunne ya.
The Commissioner, who spoke among other things, pointed out that,it was on record that this was the first time a Governor came in and there was no funfare and started work from the first day he was sworn-in on 17th March,2022 at Opkoko community in Ogbaru Local Government Area.
"Before now, Opkoko was considered as a forgotten place, and Governor Soludo, want there because of the empathy he had for the poor people, he made a firm promise while standing on top of refuse that when he comes back in few months that the heap of the refuse will be turned to main road.
Speaking further,Engr. Chukwuemeka, affirmed that the Governor had gone beyond the promise he made to the citizens of Opkoko community as his government had already done 14 kilometres of road in the area, returned the eluded night life there, built a brand new general hospital, put the aged longed dilapidated school buildings in place as well as rejig the abandoned pipe borne water in the community.
He stressed that the residents of the Opkoko community, had collectively resolved to change the name of their community (Opkoko) to new heaven because of the striking achievements of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo's administration in the area.
Asked whether the lofty achievements of Governor Soludo in the state can earn him,his second term bid, the Commissioner, reemphasized that one good turn deserves another.
He argued that, if somebody had done what others could not do in 8 years within 3 years in office that what Ndi-Anambra owe him were their votes at the polling units, come November 8 election in the state.
He however, advised people of the state to vote massively to Governor Soludo at the polls, adding that their target was not just for him to win the election, but for him to win across the 326 wards in the state because according to him, there is no area the Governor had not touched in the state without any form of discrimination.
"For instance, within the 3 years he spent, it is on record that the 5 brand new general hospitals, he had constructed were all in the northern senatorial district of the state, namely,Opkoko in Ogbaru,Fegge in Onitsha South,Orumaetite in Anambra West,Anaku in Ayamelum and finally, that of his community in Enugu-Otu Aguleri in Anambra East Local Government Area.
So,if somebody had done all these without minding the temporary boundaries that we share in Anambra,I think, he deserves more than our votes, come November 8 election",the Commissioner, submitted.
Briefing the Commissioner on the reasons behind the visit, Hon.Maxwell Ideife Iwunor, said that his reasons were not far fetched, saying that he had his reasons for decamping from PDP to APGA because whenever he saw things going on politically that he knows where he belonged.
Hon.Iwunor, a former PDP candidate for the Federal House of Representatives Abuja, during the 2023 general elections in Anambra State, said that he had every reason to joining a political party, pointing out that the first thing he considered most was his communal interest, which he said was above his self interest.
He reiterated that what his community want, supercede his own interests and every other things, and confirmed that his community had benefited a lot in the present government in the state, opining that every reasonable human being in Enugu-Otu Aguleri Community, know the right thing to do in order to pay back Governor Soludo through their voting strengths, not material things.
"Enugu-Otu Aguleri Community, had a very large voting strength in Anambra East Local Government Area, hence, they have to pay back to Governor Soludo, having done remarkable things in area.
"He constructed access road, installed electricity facilities and built a brand new general hospital in the community and above all appoints one of our sons,Engr.Julius Chukwuemeka as Commissioner for Power and Water Resources in his administration,"he harped.
So,I think there is nothing we needed in this administration that have not gotten to us, what informed my decision for this visit was to officially inform the Commissioner that the people of Enugu-Otu community had collectively resolved to work with Mr.Governor by voting for APGA and as well give the party 100%votes on the November 8 election in the state.
Hon.Iwunor,a two time ward chairman for Enugu-Otu Aguleri community under the platform of PDP, revealed that the visit marked his first day of wearing the APGA uniform as a bonafide member of the party in the state, stating equally that the first visit he made in his APGA uniform was to the Commissioner for him to at least confirm that this was not one manufacturing picture",but real.
"That is why I wear the APGA uniform and come, so that he will see it for himself",he concluded.
