Ukwulu 2025 New Yam Festival: Monarch Backs Soludo For Second Tenure

The people of Anambra Central Senatorial District,Dunukofia Local Government Area and the entire people of Ukwulu accient kingdom, have unanimously pledged thier 99% votes to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo during the November 8 governorship election in the state.
The Traditional Ruler of Ukwulu Community,His Royal Majesty,Igwe Peter Anaukwu Uyanwa, disclosed this yesterday in a message,marking his 2025 new yam festival in the community.
The royal father,who said that Governor Soludo had done well in all ramifications in repositioning the state economy, opined that the Governor should be allowed by the power hungry politicians in the state to complete his 8 years tenure in office to enable him consolidate on what he started already.
"Everybody cannot become the Governor of the state at the same time,we are pleased with what Charli Nwagbafor is doing in the state,"the Royal Father said.
While asking the few individuals who are fomenting trouble in the community to rethink and key into the development of the community, Igwe Uyanwa,declared heavenly blessings upon his subjects both at home and in the diaspora,urging those living in affluence in the area to invest some of their wealth in infrastructural and human capital development of the community.
He showered his royal blessings on the good people of Anambra State,Ukwulu community,Governor Soludo as well as Prince Engr.Arthor Eze (Ozoigbondu),saying that the event marked the beginning of new things in the area and Anambra State at large.
He stressed the need for peaceful co-existence in Ukwulu accient kingdom, praying God to end incessant untimely deaths in the community and thanked Him for blessing the community with massive arable lands that can produce any type of crops planted on it.
In a homily during an interdenominational service as part of activities marking the new yam festival,at the Igwe Uyanwa's palace, a Catholic priest,Reverend Father Peter Eche,said that this year's bountiful harvests in Ukwulu community were something worthy of thanking God by the people.
He thanked God for blessing the community with somebody like Igwe Uyanwa,whom he noted, had done a lot in both infrastructural and human capital development of the community.
In their remarks, the traditional rulers of Umuoba-Anam community,Igwe George Obalim Ekwealor,Igwe Simeon Chidubem of Umumbo and their counterpart in Ukwala ancient kingdom in Anambra West Local Government Area, Igwe Joseph Ajodo, described the celebration of new yam in Igbo land as a mark of plenty and end of hunger witnessed by the farmers all through the planting season .
They likened yam to a male child in the area, hence the respect accorded it by the Igbos,describing yam theft as a very serious abomination,since yam remained the king of all crops in Igbo communities .
Speaking after receiving a prestigious chieftaincy title from Igwe Uyanwa, Chief Arch.Ikechukwu Ekweani,Mr and Mrs Li Yanping and Mr.War Lui from Republic of China as well as Chief Chinasa Joshua Orakwue,Chief Clement Erika SAN, expressed happiness for the honour done them by Igwe Uyanwa, noting that the singular honour will continue to spur them to do more for the society and humanity.
Others who spoke at the event included,Chief Nonso Okonkwo, (Apkatoyi),High Chief Arinze Igwe, and Igwemma Zion,said that they came to pay homage to Igwe Uyanwa and to show him love as their royal father, describing the event as special one in the annals of Ukwulu community,praying God to continue to bless him as he goes around doing good .
The event which was attended by the immediate past Chairman, Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council and the Traditional Ruler of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe ,(Agbogidi),the current Chairman, Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council and Traditional Ruler of Obosi,Igwe Chidubem Iweka (Eze Iweka 111), and Chairman,Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council,and the Traditional Ruler of Nsukka,HRH Igwe Samunel Ikechukwu Asado,(Ogalagidi), among other dignitaries,featured paying of homage to Igwe Uyanwa by various groups in the community and beyond,friends and well wishers of the Ukwulu community from far and near.
The Ezenwanyi Ukwulu and the wife of the Traditional Ruler,Chief Mrs Elizabeth Chizoba Uyanwa and her team were also among the very important personalities that graced the event while cutting of the new and the roasted yams as well as Ichu- ji -akakulu (total extermination of the old yam to pave way for the new yam),by Igwe Uyanwa, cultural dances by the people and masquerade displays added glamour to the event.
